Lorca. The fortress of the sun

Lorca is one of the main cities in the Murcia Region. Located in the valley of the  Guadalentín river and very close to the Andalusian border. Its urban centre was declared a Town of Historical and Artistic Interest in 1964. The abundance of historical evidence which remains from the time of the Moors and Christians, has made Lorca one of the most important historical centers in the whole of Eastern Spain. Its castle, with its imposing appearance, is being converted into a theme area to be known as The Fortress of the Sun, where the visitor will be able to live out "an experience through the periods of History". We must also mention the spectacular Biblical-Passion Week processions in Lorca, with the fervour of whites and blues, blues and whites…

The city is located very close to many mountain ranges - Sierra de Almenara, declared as a Special Protection Area and Sites of Community Interest and other areas of great natural beauty on the coast such as Puntas de Calnegre. We recommend Lorca as a MUST on your to do list!
